The short answer
GoHighLevel for dentists costs about $490 a month for one practice on our assumptions: the $97 Starter plan, the $297 HIPAA add-on, and about $96 in texts, email, phone and Voice AI for 400 AI-answered calls. HIPAA is account-wide and cannot be switched off once enabled. An agency serving several practices pays for HIPAA once for its whole account, so its cost per practice falls with each practice it adds.
What one practice pays each month
We found no other page that publishes this number, so here it is line by line. The volumes come from our calculator's dental preset: 400 calls a month answered by Voice AI at 2.5 minutes each, 800 text segments and 3,000 emails. They are starting assumptions, not measured data from a practice, so change them to yours.
| Item | Per month | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Starter plan | $97.00 | Up to 3 sub-accounts, unlimited users and contacts |
| HIPAA compliance add-on | $297.00 | Account-wide; cannot be canceled once enabled |
| Local phone number | $1.15 | One number for texts and AI calls |
| A2P 10DLC texting campaign | $1.50 | Lowest monthly campaign fee, plus about $22.50 one-time to register |
| Texts, 800 segments | $9.34 | $0.00747 each plus a carrier fee near $0.0042 |
| Email, 3,000 sends | $2.03 | $0.675 per 1,000 |
| Voice AI, 400 calls at 2.5 minutes | $68.00 | Pay per use, standard voice, about $0.068 a minute |
| Phone minutes for those AI calls | $13.98 | 1,200 minutes, each call rounded up |
| Total | $489.99 | About $5,880 a year |
Three things can move this total. On an AI Employee plan instead of pay per use, Voice AI costs $97 on Unlimited (about $29.00 more at this volume, but chat and review AI are included) or about $111.20 on Growth. Calls your front desk answers through HighLevel add $0.01165 a minute inbound and $0.0166 outbound. And a practice management sync is a separate bill from a third party, covered below.
To try your own volumes, open the calculator with the dental preset loaded. The link switches on the $297 HIPAA add-on, so it should show about $490 for these inputs. The rates behind every line are in our LC Phone pricing guide and Voice AI pricing guide.
Which plan: one practice or an agency
HighLevel is sold to agencies, but a practice can buy it directly. The right plan depends on who holds the account:
- One practice buying for itself: Starter at $97. Its 3 sub-accounts are enough for up to three locations, and a practice paying its own bill has no need for rebilling.
- An agency serving more than three practices: Unlimited at $297, with unlimited sub-accounts and phone and email usage passed to each practice at cost.
- An agency reselling HighLevel under its own brand: Agency Pro at $497, which adds SaaS Mode and rebilling of texts, calls and AI with a markup. See our SaaS Mode guide.
The HIPAA add-on is available on every plan, and it is priced per agency account rather than per practice. If a practice hires an agency that already runs HighLevel, the practice does not buy a plan at all; the agency bills it, and the agency needs its own HIPAA setup and BAA.
Cost per practice for an agency
Because the plan and the HIPAA fee are shared, the cost per practice drops quickly as an agency adds practices. Each practice below uses the same volumes as the single-practice table ($95.99 of usage a month).
| Practices | Plan | HighLevel total per month | Per practice |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Starter ($97) + HIPAA ($297) | $490 | $490 |
| 3 | Starter ($97) + HIPAA ($297) | $682 | $227 |
| 5 | Unlimited ($297) + HIPAA ($297) | $1,074 | $215 |
| 10 | Unlimited ($297) + HIPAA ($297) | $1,554 | $155 |
| 10 | Agency Pro ($497) + HIPAA ($297) | $1,754 | $175 |
This is HighLevel's cost only. Whatever an agency charges on top pays for setup, the AI receptionist's script, monitoring and support. Our GoHighLevel pricing guide lists every plan and add-on if you need to cost a different mix.
HIPAA: what the add-on covers
Here is what HighLevel's help center states about the HIPAA package, checked on 2026-09-29:
- Not on by default. "HighLevel accounts are NOT HIPAA compliant by default." The add-on is a paid upgrade at $297 a month, available on every plan.
- What it adds: encryption of electronic patient health information, a Business Associate Agreement, audit logging and enforced multi-factor login.
- Account-wide and permanent. Once bought it applies to the whole agency and cannot be canceled, refunded, removed or downgraded. HighLevel's reason: encrypted patient data cannot be un-encrypted.
- Two steps to switch on. Signing the BAA inside HighLevel activates the package for the agency; then each sub-account needs its HIPAA toggle turned on in Advanced Settings, and that toggle cannot be turned off either.
- Who is who. The practice is the covered entity; HighLevel and the agency are business associates. HighLevel notes the agency must itself comply with HIPAA so it can give the practice its own BAA.
- What data is covered. Contacts, notes, custom fields, texts, voice recordings, email bodies and attachments, form submissions, calendars and invoices. Reviews AI replies follow HIPAA handling in enabled sub-accounts.
The Terms of Service add one more condition: the BAA depends on an active, fully paid HIPAA subscription. If a payment for the package fails, the BAA terminates automatically, and HighLevel is no longer your business associate for that account.
Check the BAA and get advice. Buying the add-on does not make a practice compliant on its own. Read the BAA before signing, confirm with HighLevel in writing how Voice AI transcripts and any connected apps are handled, ask every third-party tool that touches patient data for its own BAA, and have a healthcare compliance adviser or attorney review the setup. This page is not legal advice.
What HighLevel does for a practice
These are standard HighLevel features, set up for a dental front desk:
- Reminders and confirmations. The calendar sends appointment reminders by text and email and can ask the patient to confirm, with replies landing in one inbox alongside Facebook, Instagram and web chat messages.
- Missed-call text back. When nobody picks up, the caller gets a text automatically, so the conversation continues while the front desk is busy.
- Review requests. A workflow asks for a review after a visit, and Reviews AI can draft replies ($0.01 per AI reply sent on pay per use, included on AI Employee plans).
- After-hours booking by Voice AI. An AI voice agent answers around the clock or only after hours, books into the calendar during the call, transfers to staff and sends a follow-up text. It needs an LC Phone or Twilio number.
- Recall campaigns. Workflows text or email patients who are due for a cleaning or have not booked in months. Outbound Voice AI calls are possible too, limited to 8am to 8pm in the patient's time zone, once a day per number, with consent language for AI and automated calls.
We do not quote no-show or booking figures. The ones in circulation for HighLevel and dental practices come without a verifiable source, and results depend on the practice, its patients and its follow-up.
Practice management software
HighLevel's help center and its dental marketing page do not describe a native connection to Dentrix, Open Dental or Eaglesoft, and a request on HighLevel's ideas board to integrate with Eaglesoft has been open since June 2024. Without a sync, the HighLevel calendar and the practice schedule are separate, so the front desk either enters appointments twice or uses HighLevel only for outreach, reminders and reviews.
Third-party connectors fill the gap, and some are listed in HighLevel's App Marketplace. One example is GHL 4 Dental, made by DrDDS Innovations (not HighLevel). Its site lists sync for Open Dental, Dentrix, Eaglesoft and Dentrix Enterprise at $95 a month per integration plus a $115 setup fee, or $1,026 a year, as of 2026-09-29. Treat any connector as a separate vendor: check what data it moves, where it stores it, and whether it will sign a BAA.

Questions
Can GoHighLevel actually work for a dental practice?
Yes, for patient communication: appointment reminders, missed-call text back, review requests, an AI receptionist that books after hours, and recall campaigns by text and email. It does not replace your practice management software, and connecting the two needs a third-party connector. If the account will hold patient health information, you also need HighLevel's $297 a month HIPAA add-on and a signed BAA.
Which GoHighLevel plan does a dental practice need?
A single practice buying for itself only needs Starter at $97 a month, which covers up to three sub-accounts, for example three locations. Add the $297 HIPAA add-on, which works on any plan. An agency serving more than three practices needs Unlimited ($297), or Agency Pro ($497) to resell HighLevel under its own brand and rebill usage with a markup.
How does GoHighLevel reduce dental appointment no-shows?
Through automated reminders and confirmation requests by text and email before each appointment, two-way texting so patients can reply to reschedule, and optional reminder calls placed by Voice AI from a workflow. HighLevel does not publish no-show results for dental practices, and we do not quote a percentage because none we found had a verifiable source.
How do I get GoHighLevel HIPAA compliance?
In the agency account, go to Settings, then Compliance, and buy the HIPAA package at $297 a month. You sign the Business Associate Agreement inside HighLevel, which activates the package for the agency. Then open each sub-account's Advanced Settings and turn the HIPAA toggle on. Neither step can be undone: the package cannot be canceled, refunded or downgraded once enabled.
What security features are included in GoHighLevel HIPAA compliance?
HighLevel lists encryption of electronic patient health information, a signed BAA, audit logging and enforced multi-factor login. Its FAQ says the protection covers contacts, notes, custom fields, texts, voice recordings, email bodies and attachments, form submissions, calendars and invoices, and that conversations, calendars and contacts in the mobile app get the same encryption and login controls.
Can I use GoHighLevel for healthcare without the HIPAA add-on?
HighLevel states that accounts are not HIPAA compliant by default, and the BAA comes only with the add-on. If the account will store patient health information, such as appointments tied to named patients or health questions on forms, plan on the add-on and a BAA. Whether a narrower, marketing-only setup involves protected health information is a question for your compliance adviser, not for software settings.
