The short answer

GoHighLevel for solar installers works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single solar installation company fits on Starter at $97 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $189 a month. An agency running ten solar installers on Unlimited pays about $122 per business.

Solar sales take months and many conversations. A homeowner calls after seeing a neighbor's panels and asks what they would save, whether there is still a tax credit and whether leasing beats buying. The answers depend on the roof, the utility bill and financing, so the first call is about qualifying and booking a consultation. After signing, calls turn to permits, inspections and when the system switches on. Slow follow-up at either stage loses deals, and wrong answers about incentives cause complaints later.

Why solar installers miss leads

These are the calls and messages a typical solar installation company has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:

  • How much could I save?
  • Is there still a federal tax credit?
  • Lease, loan or buy
  • Battery backup
  • Installation and permit timeline
  • When will my system be turned on?
  • Existing system not producing

Five workflows to build first

  1. Lead qualificationNew leads get a form asking for their utility, average monthly bill, roof age, shading and whether they own the home. Qualified leads get a consultation link, and renters get a polite email explaining why.
  2. Consultation bookingConsultations go on the advisor's calendar with a reminder to have a recent utility bill ready. Virtual consultations include the video link in the reminder.
  3. Proposal follow-upAfter the proposal, the homeowner gets the documents, a reminder in three days and a call task for the advisor in a week. Stalled leads move to a longer nurture list.
  4. Installation milestone textsAfter signing, each stage (site survey, permit submitted, install scheduled, inspection, utility approval) sends a short text, so customers know where the project stands.
  5. Referral requestOnce the utility approves the system and it is producing, the customer gets a referral ask and, in a separate text, a review request. Both go to every customer.

HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

Adding an AI receptionist

Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.40 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for solar installers.

Rules to watch

The federal residential credit has ended. The IRS says the Residential Clean Energy Credit is not allowed for expenditures made after December 31, 2025, and an expenditure counts as made when installation is completed. Make sure your AI prompt, scripts and follow-up texts do not promise the 30 percent credit, and send tax questions to a tax professional.

Honest savings claims. FTC guidance to solar sellers: disclose the total cost, be clear about financing and don't overpromise savings from tax credits, rebates or incentives. The FTC also warns that 'free' solar panel offers are scams. Keep AI answers about savings to 'your advisor will estimate this from your bill.'

Telemarketing consent. The FCC treats AI-generated voices as artificial under the TCPA, so outbound Voice AI calls need prior express consent, and marketing calls need prior express written consent. Don't call purchased lead lists without checking how and for whom consent was collected.

General information, not legal advice. Check the rules for your state with a qualified professional.

Software solar installers often use

Aurora Solar, OpenSolar, Enerflo, Solargraf, JobNimbus. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.

Which plan

One solar installation company fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many solar installers should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.

Questions

Is GoHighLevel a good CRM for solar installers?
It suits the sales side: lead capture, qualification forms, consultations, long nurture sequences, proposals and milestone texts. Design tools like Aurora Solar or OpenSolar stay in place for system sizing. HighLevel's pipelines can track each deal from lead to install to utility approval.
How should solar companies handle vendor leads in GoHighLevel?
Tag each lead with its source and keep the consent record that came with it. Before any automated call or text, confirm the lead agreed to contact from your company specifically. HighLevel's outbound Voice AI also requires you to accept its terms and use consent language covering AI calls.
Can GoHighLevel send solar proposals?
HighLevel includes estimates and proposals that customers open from a link, plus invoices and payments. Installers who build design proposals in their solar software can send those files or links from HighLevel and let workflows handle reminders. Check whether your financing partner requires its own signing process.
What does GoHighLevel cost a solar company that sends a lot of email?
Email is cheap on HighLevel at $0.675 per 1,000 sends, so our assumption of 3,000 emails a month costs about $2. The Starter plan is $97 a month. A dedicated sending IP costs $59 a month and is only offered on the $297 and $497 plans.
