The short answer

GoHighLevel for veterinarians works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single veterinary clinic fits on Starter at $97 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $218 a month. An agency running ten veterinarians on Unlimited pays about $151 per business.

A veterinary clinic's phone is part scheduling line and part hotline for worried owners. Vaccine bookings, food and medication refills, and boarding questions compete with calls about a dog that ate something it should not have, and the front desk cannot be on all of them at once. HighLevel takes on the routine load: reminder texts for vaccines and dental cleanings, refill request intake, review requests and missed-call text back. A Voice AI agent can book wellness visits and take refill requests, while every call about a sick or injured animal goes straight to a person or to the emergency hospital the clinic names.

Why veterinarians miss leads

These are the calls and messages a typical veterinary clinic has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:

  • Book vaccines or a wellness visit
  • Medication or food refill
  • Pet ate something or seems sick
  • Boarding and grooming availability
  • New puppy or kitten appointment
  • Price of a spay or neuter
  • Records for a groomer or kennel

Five workflows to build first

  1. Vaccine due remindersText owners when a pet's vaccine or annual exam is due, using a due-date field for each pet, with a booking link. A second reminder a week later goes out only if nothing has been booked.
  2. Refill request intakeA form or text keyword collects the pet's name, the medication and a pickup or delivery preference, then creates a task for the veterinary team to approve. The owner gets a text when it is ready.
  3. Puppy and kitten visit seriesAfter a first visit, book the follow-up visits the veterinarian sets and send reminders for each one, so the series does not depend on the owner's memory or a sticky note.
  4. Missed call text backWhen the line is busy, callers get a text within seconds with booking and refill links, plus the emergency hospital's number for urgent situations outside clinic hours.
  5. Post-visit review requestSend every client a review request the day after a visit. Google prohibits incentives for reviews, so skip discount offers, and reply to reviews without discussing a pet's diagnosis or care.

HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

What it costs

Adding an AI receptionist

Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.20 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for veterinarians.

Rules to watch

HIPAA does not cover pet records. HIPAA protects health information about people held by covered entities such as doctors, dentists and pharmacies. Animal medical records are not protected health information, so a clinic does not need HighLevel's $297 HIPAA package. Check your state veterinary practice act for its own rules on record confidentiality.

Consent for texts. FCC rules require written consent for commercial texts, while informational texts such as vaccine reminders may rely on oral consent. Record how each client opted in at intake, and send promotions, like grooming specials, only to clients who gave written consent.

Reviews. Google's review policy bars incentives for reviews and requests aimed only at happy clients. When a review criticizes care, reply briefly and take the conversation to a phone call instead of discussing the case in public.

General information, not legal advice. Check the rules for your state with a qualified professional.

Software veterinarians often use

ezyVet, Cornerstone, AVImark, Shepherd, Vetspire, PetDesk. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.

Which plan

One veterinary clinic fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many veterinarians should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.

Questions

Do veterinary clinics need GoHighLevel's HIPAA add-on?
Generally no. HIPAA protects health information about people held by covered entities, and pet medical records fall outside it. A vet clinic can skip the $297 a month HIPAA package. State veterinary rules may still limit who can see records, so check with your state board before loading records into any system.
How does GoHighLevel handle clients with several pets?
The HighLevel contact is the owner. Pets can live in custom fields, or in custom objects if the account uses them, with due dates for each. Reminder workflows read those fields. Plan the structure before importing, because multi-pet households break simple setups with one due date per contact.
What does GoHighLevel cost a veterinary clinic?
Starter at $97 a month covers up to three sub-accounts, enough for one clinic or a small group. With no HIPAA package needed, the main extra cost is usage: texts at about $0.0075 per segment plus carrier fees, email at $0.675 per 1,000, and phone and AI minutes.
Can GoHighLevel replace a dedicated vet reminder service?
It can send the same kinds of reminders by text and email, but only for due dates it knows about. Without a sync from the practice management software, someone has to import due dates, which is the work a reminder tool connected to that software already does. Compare the setup effort before switching.
