The short answer
GoHighLevel vs Vagaro comes down to what you need to run. Vagaro is the better fit for salons, spas and studios that want booking, point of sale and payments in one low-cost system with a consumer marketplace listing. HighLevel is the better fit for beauty and wellness businesses, or their agencies, focused on winning new clients through ads, missed-call text-back, AI phone answering and follow-up campaigns. Vagaro's Base subscription plan is $23.99/mo (limited time); HighLevel starts at $97 a month with usage billed on top.
Vagaro is booking and business software for salons, spas, barbers, fitness studios and medspas. The base subscription covers online booking, calendars, payments, inventory, SOAP notes, loyalty programs and appointment reminders, plus 1,000 free marketing emails a month, and it lists the business on the Vagaro Marketplace where consumers search for services. Text marketing, the MySite website builder, a branded app, forms and the Vera Receptionist AI are bought one by one. Pricing is set per bookable calendar, and Vagaro also sells its own card processing.

Where Vagaro is stronger
Vagaro advantages
- Low entry price for a salon at $23.99 a month for a limited time, and extra calendars stop costing more after seven.
- The Vagaro Marketplace listing can put a business in front of consumers already searching for services there.
- Covers the front desk in one system: booking, point of sale, inventory, forms, check-in and payroll options.
- Every add-on price is published in Vagaro's support article, so you pay only for the features you switch on.
Where Vagaro falls short
- Useful pieces cost extra: text marketing from $20 a month, MySite $20, forms $10 and the branded app $100 plus a setup fee.
- Vera Receptionist answers messages, and Vagaro does not describe AI that answers phone calls, which HighLevel Voice AI does.
- Vagaro does not list funnels or sales pipelines for chasing new leads the way HighLevel workflows do.
- Built for running one salon or spa brand, not for an agency managing many client accounts.
Where HighLevel is stronger
HighLevel puts CRM, funnels, websites, two-way texting, calling, review requests, courses and an AI phone agent in one login, and agencies can put their own brand on it from the Unlimited plan. The trade-off is a steeper learning curve and usage charges on top of the plan, which our cost calculator adds up. For the full picture read our GoHighLevel review.
Who should pick which
| Choose Vagaro | Salons, spas and studios that want booking, point of sale and payments in one low-cost system with a consumer marketplace listing. |
|---|---|
| Choose HighLevel | Beauty and wellness businesses, or their agencies, focused on winning new clients through ads, missed-call text-back, AI phone answering and follow-up campaigns. |
Switching
You do not have to drop Vagaro to use HighLevel: you can keep it for the chair and checkout and run lead capture and follow-up in HighLevel. If you replace it fully, export your client list and service menu, rebuild services as HighLevel calendars, and move card processing to a provider HighLevel supports, such as Stripe or Square. Vagaro says some premium features are billed forward to the end of the cycle, so time cancellations with your billing date.
Verdict
Vagaro is a capable, affordable salon operating system, and HighLevel is not trying to be one: HighLevel does not list payroll, SOAP notes or check-in apps. Where HighLevel wins is getting and keeping clients. Starter at $97 a month includes a CRM, funnels, websites, two-way texting, email campaigns and review requests, and Voice AI can answer calls around the clock for usage fees. For a single salon that is already busy, Vagaro plus a few add-ons is the cheaper path. For a salon group chasing growth, or an agency serving beauty clients, HighLevel next to a booking system is worth pricing out.
