The short answer
GoHighLevel for marketing agencies works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single marketing agency fits on Unlimited at $297 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $357 a month. An agency running ten marketing agencies on Unlimited pays about $90 per business.
A marketing agency has two phone problems at once. Its own sales line gets calls from business owners who saw an ad or heard about the agency from a referral and want a price today, and those calls land while the team is in client meetings. Then every new client needs the same machinery rebuilt: forms, pipelines, reminders and review requests. Agencies that stitch this together from separate tools pay per seat several times over and copy settings by hand each time they sign someone.
Why marketing agencies miss leads
These are the calls and messages a typical marketing agency has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:
- Asking what a monthly retainer costs
- Existing client reporting a broken form or landing page
- Business owner replying to a cold email or ad
- Client asking why leads dropped this month
- Rescheduling a strategy or reporting call
- Vendor or freelancer pitching services
- Question about a card charge or invoice
Five workflows to build first
- Audit request to discovery callA prospect fills the free audit form, gets a text with a booking link to a round robin calendar shared by two strategists, and lands in a 'New audit' pipeline stage. If nothing is booked within 24 hours, a second text follows with a link to a sample report.
- Client onboarding from a snapshotWhen a client signs, their new sub-account is loaded from your niche snapshot, so funnels, pipelines, calendars and workflows arrive prebuilt. A task list then assigns the account manager to connect the client's domain, phone number and A2P registration before anything goes live.
- Monthly reporting rhythmOn the first business day of each month, the account manager gets a task to send the client report, and the client gets a text with a link to book a review call. Clients who skip two review calls in a row are flagged in the pipeline as a churn risk.
- Missed call text back on the agency lineWhen a prospect calls the main number and nobody picks up, a text goes out within a minute asking whether they want pricing, a free audit or help with an existing account. The reply routes them to the right person and pipeline.
- SaaS Mode trial to paidOn Agency Pro, a buyer purchases one of your software plans from a checkout page, the sub-account is created automatically, and a setup sequence runs through the trial period you chose. Anyone who has not logged in by day three gets a text offering a setup call.
HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

Adding an AI receptionist
Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.32 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for marketing agencies.
Rules to watch
AI voice calls need consent. The FCC confirmed in February 2024 that AI-generated voices count as artificial voices under the TCPA, so outbound AI calls need the called person's prior express consent, and written consent when the call is marketing. If you switch on outbound Voice AI in client accounts, check that each client's forms capture that consent first.
Review requests you run for clients. The FTC's Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule bans fake reviews and incentives tied to positive sentiment, and the FTC says advertising agencies and reputation firms can be liable if they write or sell fake reviews. Keep review-request workflows neutral: ask every customer and tie nothing to a good rating.
Advertised resale prices. HighLevel's Terms of Service say white-label resellers may not digitally advertise a HighLevel plan for an effective price below HighLevel's current standard price for a similar package. The rule covers advertised prices, not a price negotiated privately with a client, so read the clause before publishing SaaS plan prices.

Software marketing agencies often use
Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, Slack, Asana, Canva, Looker Studio. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.
Which plan
Marketing Agencies often run several locations or teams, so Unlimited at $297 a month is the safer start: sub-accounts are unlimited and phone and email usage can be passed through at cost. Agencies serving many marketing agencies should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.
