The short answer

GoHighLevel for podiatrists works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single podiatry practice fits on Starter at $97 a month, plus the $297 HIPAA add-on. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $466 a month. An agency running ten podiatrists on Unlimited pays about $102 per business before HIPAA, or $132 with it.

Podiatry practices see a wide mix, from heel pain and ingrown nails to regular foot checks for patients with diabetes and custom orthotics, and Medicare patients bring their own coverage rules. That mix slows the phone down: callers ask whether a visit is covered, whether they need a referral, and when their orthotics will be ready. HighLevel handles reminders, recall for patients who need regular foot checks, orthotic pickup texts and review requests. A Voice AI agent can book new patient visits, answer coverage questions with the practice's approved wording, and route anything urgent to clinical staff.

Why podiatrists miss leads

These are the calls and messages a typical podiatry practice has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:

  • Heel or foot pain appointment
  • Ingrown toenail
  • Diabetic foot check
  • Are my orthotics ready
  • Does Medicare cover this visit
  • Do I need a referral
  • Wound or post-surgery concern

Five workflows to build first

  1. Regular foot check recallPatients the podiatrist flags for regular checks get a reminder when their next visit is due, based on a recall date field, with a booking link and a staff call task if they do not respond.
  2. Orthotics ready textWhen staff mark orthotics as arrived, the patient gets a text inviting them to book a fitting. A reminder follows a week later if nothing is booked.
  3. New patient paperworkAfter booking, send intake forms, a reminder to bring the shoes they wear most and any referral, and directions. Answers save to the contact before the visit.
  4. Post-surgery visit remindersAfter a procedure, schedule reminders for each follow-up visit the surgeon sets, and create a staff task whenever a patient misses one.
  5. Missed call text backMissed calls get a text with booking options and the after-hours number for urgent concerns, and replies route to the front desk inbox.

HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

Adding an AI receptionist

Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.20 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for podiatrists.

Rules to watch

Medicare and routine foot care. Medicare says it does not usually cover routine foot care, such as trimming nails or removing corns and calluses, while Part B covers medically necessary treatment for foot injuries or diseases. The AI should share this general rule only and let staff decide coverage for any visit.

HIPAA. Podiatry practices that bill Medicare or insurers electronically are HIPAA covered entities. If appointment reasons, surgery dates or intake answers go into HighLevel, budget for its $297 a month HIPAA package with a business associate agreement, and keep clinical records in the EHR.

Reminder content. HHS allows appointment reminders on answering machines and with family members but advises limiting the details. Keep AI voicemails and reminder texts to the practice name, the time and a callback number.

General information, not legal advice. Check the rules for your state with a qualified professional.

Software podiatrists often use

ModMed, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.

Which plan

One podiatry practice fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many podiatrists should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.

Questions

How much does GoHighLevel cost for a podiatry practice?
About $466 a month on our assumptions: the Starter plan at $97, the $297 HIPAA add-on, and usage for 300 AI-answered calls, 600 texts and 1,500 emails. Change the numbers in the calculator to match your podiatry practice.
What does a podiatry practice use GoHighLevel for?
Mostly recall and communication: reminders for patients who need regular foot checks, orthotic pickup texts, post-surgery visit reminders, review requests and an AI receptionist. The EHR still holds charts, billing and the clinical schedule, so plan how appointments reach HighLevel before launch.
Which GoHighLevel plan suits a podiatry group?
One to three offices fit the $97 Starter plan, which includes three sub-accounts. Four or more need Unlimited at $297. The HIPAA package is $297 a month for the whole account and covers every office once HIPAA is switched on in each sub-account.
Can GoHighLevel remind older patients who do not text?
Yes. Keep a preferred channel on each contact and send email, a staff call task, or an outbound Voice AI call from a workflow. AI calls need consent covering artificial voices under FCC rules, and HighLevel limits them to 8am to 8pm in the patient's time zone.
Can GoHighLevel help sell orthotics or foot care products?
HighLevel has an online store, payment links and text-to-pay, so a practice can sell products or collect orthotic balances. HHS guidance says a covered entity's communications about its own health-related products are generally not marketing that needs authorization, but have a compliance adviser check campaigns.
