The short answer
GoHighLevel for towing companies works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single towing company fits on Starter at $97 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $206 a month. An agency running ten towing companies on Unlimited pays about $139 per business.
Towing calls are urgent, tied to a location and often made from a highway shoulder. The dispatcher has to get an exact position, the vehicle and the destination fast, while also juggling motor club jobs, impound questions and price shoppers. At night one person may be driving and dispatching at once, so calls are missed and stranded drivers ring the next company. Any automation here must speed up intake without ever leaving a caller in danger without a human on the line.
Why towing companies miss leads
These are the calls and messages a typical towing company has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:
- Tow after a breakdown or accident
- Jump start, tire change, lockout or fuel delivery
- Price and arrival time
- Where is my car: impound or private property tow
- Long-distance or flatbed transport
- Motor club or insurance dispatch
- Heavy-duty or commercial vehicle tow
Five workflows to build first
- Instant driver alertEvery call tagged as a tow or roadside request creates an opportunity and texts the on-duty driver the caller's number, location notes and vehicle, so the driver can call back while intake is still wrapping up.
- Arrival window textOnce a driver accepts a job, dispatch moves it to En Route and the customer gets a text with the driver's name and an estimated arrival window, which cuts repeat 'where are you' calls.
- Impound release detailsCallers asking about a towed car get a text with the storage lot address, hours, the ID and paperwork to bring and accepted payment methods, all taken from the knowledge base.
- Payment link at drop-offFor customer-paid tows, an invoice with a text-to-pay link goes out at drop-off, so the driver is not handling cards on a dark roadside.
- Review request the next dayA day after a completed customer-paid tow, the customer receives a review request. People choosing a tow company in a hurry glance at ratings, so a steady flow of reviews helps win the next call.
HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

Adding an AI receptionist
Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.16 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for towing companies.
Rules to watch
A human path for emergencies. A roadside caller may be in danger, so the AI must never be the only option. Anyone reporting injuries or a vehicle in a travel lane should be told to call 911 and then transferred live to dispatch. Voice AI supports call transfers; test that path regularly, including overnight.
State and local towing rules. States and cities set their own towing rules, especially for non-consent tows from private property. Texas, for example, requires tow companies, trucks and operators to be licensed by TDLR and limits non-consent tow fees to those set under state law. Keep the AI to your published fees and release rules.
USDOT numbers for tow trucks. FMCSA requires a USDOT number for companies operating commercial vehicles in interstate commerce with a weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more. This does not change phone scripts, but confirm your trucks' registration before advertising long-distance or cross-state transport.

Towbook, Dispatch Anywhere, TOPS, QuickBooks Online. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.
Which plan
One towing company fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many towing companies should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.
