The short answer
A GoHighLevel sub-account is a separate workspace inside your agency account, usually one per client business or location, with its own contacts, pipelines, calendars, workflows, funnels, phone numbers and integrations. HighLevel also calls them locations. Starter at $97 a month includes 3 sub-accounts, while Unlimited at $297 and Agency Pro at $497 include unlimited sub-accounts. Contacts and users are unlimited on every plan. Usage inside each sub-account, such as texts, calls, email and AI, is billed separately through the agency wallet.
| Plans | Starter: 3 sub-accounts. Unlimited and Agency Pro: unlimited sub-accounts. |
|---|---|
| Cost | Included in the plan, with no per-sub-account fee listed on Unlimited or Agency Pro. Usage and per-sub-account add-ons are extra. |

Sub-accounts by plan
The sub-account count is the main difference between Starter and Unlimited. Starter at $97 a month includes 3, which covers one business with a couple of brands or locations, or a freelancer with two clients and a demo account. Unlimited at $297 removes the cap and adds rebilling of phone and email at cost. Agency Pro at $497 keeps unlimited sub-accounts and adds SaaS Mode, automated sub-account creation and rebilling with markup. Contacts and users are unlimited on all three plans, so for most buyers the number of sub-accounts is the limit that decides the plan.
What belongs to a sub-account
Each sub-account works as its own CRM. Contacts, pipelines, calendars, conversations, funnels, websites, workflows, phone numbers and integrations belong to that one business, and snapshots deliberately leave contacts, conversations, phone numbers and connections behind for that reason. Stripe connects per sub-account, one Stripe account at a time, and Google Business Profile and Facebook pages connect per sub-account too. Several add-ons are priced the same way: AI Employee, WhatsApp at $10 a month, Online Listings at $30 a month and the SEO add-on at $79 a month are each charged per sub-account on HighLevel's pricing page.
Users and access
HighLevel has two user types. An agency user can reach every client account under the agency, while an account user reaches only the sub-accounts you select, so a client's staff or an outside contractor sees just their own business. Roles and permission scopes then decide which tools a user can open and whether they can view, edit or delete. Anyone added inside a sub-account also appears in the agency's Team list, which makes it easy to audit who has access. Because users are unlimited, each client's staff can have their own login rather than sharing one.
Setting up new sub-accounts faster
A new sub-account can start blank or from a snapshot, which loads funnels, workflows, calendars, forms and settings in one step; funnels and websites arrive as drafts to publish once a domain is connected. Inside the new account, LaunchPad gathers the setup tasks, videos and shortcuts in one place, from business details and calendars to email, phone, payments and domains. On Agency Pro, sub-accounts can also be created automatically when a client pays through SaaS Mode, or through the public API, so a sale can turn into a working account without anyone on your team clicking through setup.
The Agency Sub-Account
HighLevel lets you mark one sub-account as your agency's own internal business account, called the Agency Sub-Account. It is a normal sub-account, flagged in the list so you can tell it apart from clients. On the $297 and $497 plans it can hold SaaS plans, subscriptions, rebilling and payment provider settings. Client sub-accounts can be transferred to another agency when eligible, but an Agency Sub-Account cannot. Use it to run your own lead generation, pipeline and follow-up on the same platform you sell, which also gives you a live demo for prospects.
