The short answer

GoHighLevel vs Freshsales comes down to what you need to run. Freshsales is the better fit for budget-minded sales teams that want a per-user CRM with calling and AI scoring built in. HighLevel is the better fit for businesses that want texting, email marketing, funnels and reviews included rather than bought as separate Freshworks products. Freshsales's Growth plan is $11 per user/month billed monthly, or $9 billed annually; HighLevel starts at $97 a month with usage billed on top.

Freshsales is the sales CRM from Freshworks, which also sells customer service and IT service software. It is priced per user, from $9 a month on the Growth plan billed annually to $59 on Enterprise, and offers a 21-day trial. Plans include built-in phone, email and chat, with contact scoring, deal insights and sales sequences from Pro. Freddy AI handles scoring and deal insights, and a Freddy AI Agent add-on costs $49 per 100 sessions. Email campaigns and landing pages come from Freshmarketer or the Freshsales Suite.

Where Freshsales is stronger

Freshsales advantages

  • A low entry price, with Growth at $9 per user a month on annual billing.
  • Built-in phone lets reps call from the CRM with call logs and recordings.
  • Freddy AI adds contact scoring, deal insights and duplicate detection.
  • A 21-day trial of the full CRM with no plan choice needed up front.

Where Freshsales falls short

  • Email campaigns and landing pages sit in Freshmarketer or the Freshsales Suite, not in the core CRM plans.
  • Texting works by connecting your own SMS provider rather than through a built-in texting service.
  • Priced per user, while HighLevel includes unlimited users.
  • No website builder, review tools, course hosting or white-label option is listed.

Where HighLevel is stronger

HighLevel puts CRM, funnels, websites, two-way texting, calling, review requests, courses and an AI phone agent in one login, and agencies can put their own brand on it from the Unlimited plan. The trade-off is a steeper learning curve and usage charges on top of the plan, which our cost calculator adds up. For the full picture read our GoHighLevel review.

Who should pick which

Choose Freshsales Budget-minded sales teams that want a per-user CRM with calling and AI scoring built in.
Choose HighLevel Businesses that want texting, email marketing, funnels and reviews included rather than bought as separate Freshworks products.

Switching

Export contacts, accounts and deals from Freshsales as CSV files and import them into HighLevel, matching lifecycle stages to pipeline stages. Sales sequences and workflows need rebuilding as HighLevel workflows. If you used Freshsales' built-in phone, decide whether to port those numbers. If Freshmarketer sent your newsletters, export those lists and templates as well, because they live in a separate product.

Verdict

Freshsales is a capable, low-cost sales CRM with calling and AI scoring included, and it fits teams that want a clean pipeline at a small seat price. Marketing is the dividing line: email campaigns and landing pages come from Freshmarketer or the Suite, and texting relies on your own SMS provider. HighLevel costs more for one user but bundles email, texting, funnels, websites, reviews and courses, with unlimited users. A sales team of three to ten people on a tight budget will find Freshsales easy to justify. A business that runs its own marketing, or an agency serving clients, will usually get more from HighLevel.

Questions

Is Freshsales cheaper than GoHighLevel?
Per user, yes. Freshsales Growth is $9 per user a month billed annually, or $11 billed monthly, so a five-person team pays $45 to $55 a month. HighLevel Starter is $97 a month with unlimited users. At the Pro rate of $39 per user billed annually, three users cost $117 a month, more than HighLevel Starter, and email campaigns would still need Freshmarketer.
Does Freshsales have texting?
Freshworks says Freshsales Suite integrates with your SMS provider to send texts to contacts, and it offers a WhatsApp integration, so you would hold a separate SMS account. HighLevel runs its own texting service on every plan: $0.00747 per segment plus carrier fees in the US, sent from a local number that costs $1.15 a month.
What is the Freddy AI Agent add-on?
Freddy AI Agent is a Freshworks add-on listed on the Freshsales pricing page at $49 per 100 sessions, available with every plan. Freddy AI also powers contact scoring, deal insights and deduplication. The pages we checked do not describe a voice agent that answers phone calls. HighLevel's Voice AI answers and places calls, from $0.06 a minute for the voice engine and speech, before AI model and phone charges.
Can agencies use Freshsales for clients like GoHighLevel?
Freshsales is sold as a CRM for one company's sales team, and its pricing page lists no sub-accounts, white-label or resale option. An agency would need a separate Freshsales subscription for each client. HighLevel gives each client a sub-account, allows unlimited sub-accounts on the $297 Unlimited plan, and lets you brand the desktop app as your own.
