The three plans

HighLevel sells hosting as a separate subscription with no contract, and every tier includes the same support channel. The choice is mostly about site count and storage. One client site fits Standard. Utility suits an agency hosting a portfolio of small client sites, where the 60 GB is pooled across all 25. Truly Unlimited only makes sense at scale: at $497 it costs the same as about 50 Standard sites.

What is under the hood

HighLevel lists Linux VPS servers, Cloudflare Enterprise CDN, a 99.99% uptime figure, free SSL, MySQL 8 and PHP versions from 5.6 through 8.4, with staging and SFTP on every plan. Backups run daily with one-click restore and are kept for up to 30 days, and bandwidth is unmetered. The help center also documents a file manager, a search and replace tool, an uptime monitor, website performance and SEO reports, an AI page builder and a choice of server country, so routine maintenance can stay inside the HighLevel dashboard rather than a separate hosting panel.

Plugin rules and limits

Some plugins are blocked in HighLevel's hosting environment, and HighLevel keeps a list of them, so check it before migrating a site that depends on particular plugins. The HighLevel dashboard can activate, deactivate, delete and update plugins and themes, but it only updates to the latest available version; downgrades are not possible there. New plugins are chosen during site creation or installed from WordPress's own Plugins screen. Test updates in staging before pushing to live, especially on sites with custom themes.

Moving an existing site

There are two migration routes. The self-service LC Migrator plugin is installed on the old site and the transfer is started from HighLevel; HighLevel says it has no file-size limit, so large sites work. The White-Glove option hands the job to HighLevel's migration team through a secure access link instead of shared passwords, and usually takes 1 to 3 business days. Only agency admins can start migrations, and failure messages show only in the agency view, which keeps the process invisible to the client.

Reselling hosting to clients

All three plans can be resold. The agency connects its Stripe account, then sets a subscription markup that shows agency cost, customer price and profit, for example a $10 cost sold at $15 for $5 margin. Prices can be set per sub-account for negotiated deals. The client activates WordPress from the Sites menu and pays with their own card, which creates two subscriptions: the client to the agency's Stripe, and the agency to HighLevel. That keeps hosting income separate from the HighLevel plan fee.
