The AI builder

Workflow AI Builder generates a complete workflow from a clear prompt, for example: when the website form is submitted, text the lead right away, email a booking link, and if no appointment is booked within two days, create a task for the sales rep. You can start it from the Build using AI button on the workflows list, the prompt box inside the builder, or the builder's chat assistant. Version 3 streams progress cards while it works, handles several changes in one request, remembers the session for follow-up edits and averages under 30 seconds per workflow, down from about 60.

Editing in plain language

The builder edits as well as creates. Ask it to add, remove or replace actions and triggers, change an If/Else condition or adjust a Wait step, or use Point and Edit to select a step on the canvas and describe the change. With autosave on, each AI-generated workflow and every AI edit is saved in the background. Since September 17, 2026, Ask AI can call the Workflow AI agent directly, so a workflow can be created or changed without opening the builder first, including from WhatsApp. The builder remains the place where you verify and publish.

AI steps inside a workflow

On September 23, 2026 HighLevel added OpenAI's GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna to the GPT and AI Agent actions, replacing the GPT-5.6 models at half their price. HighLevel positions Sol for multi-step reasoning across apps and Luna for high-volume jobs such as classification, tagging, summaries and quick replies. The AI Agent's model list also includes Anthropic and Google models, with Low, Medium and High effort settings on reasoning models.

What Workflow AI costs

The builder and Generate with AI are free, subject to a limit that resets within 24 hours. The built-in AI actions, Decision Maker, Intent Detection, Summarize Text and Translate, are premium features at $0.01 per execution; they share the 100 free lifetime premium executions each sub-account gets and qualify for Workflow Pro tiers from $10 a month. GPT actions and other external model steps are billed at the model provider's price with no markup. An AI Agent run costs its model tokens plus any premium actions it calls, and HighLevel says automatic token optimizations can cut that cost by up to 50%.

Check AI-built workflows before publishing

HighLevel is clear that the AI builder does not test workflows for you and that complex setups may need manual adjustment. Before publishing, open each step and confirm the trigger filters, the sending number and email address, the wait times and the custom values used in messages. Run a test contact through it and read the execution log. Watch AI steps most closely: a vague Decision Maker branch description sends contacts down the default path, and every AI step adds a small charge to each run, which grows with contact volume.
