The short answer
An AI receptionist for IV therapy clinics built on HighLevel Voice AI costs about $0.20 per answered call, or $41 a month for 200 calls averaging 2.5 minutes, phone line included. Roughly 80 of those calls (40%) would come outside office hours, which is where an AI answering service earns its keep. Emergencies, complaints and anything needing judgment should go to a person.
What the AI should handle
Answer menu and price questions
Read drip names and prices from the knowledge base, text the full menu, and say that a clinician confirms suitability after reviewing the health screening.
Book in-clinic and mobile visits
Collect name, phone, the service address for mobile visits, number of people and preferred time, then book the slot and text the deposit link and screening form.
Take group event inquiries
Record the event date, location, expected guests and contact details, create an opportunity for the coordinator, and tell the caller when to expect a quote.
Sell memberships and gift cards
Explain membership tiers from the knowledge base and text a payment link for signups or gift cards instead of taking card numbers during the call.
What to send to a person
- Every health screening question and whether a drip suits someone
- Reactions or concerns after a visit
- Custom pricing for large events
- Refunds and complaints
HighLevel's voice agents can transfer a live call, create a task, or trigger a workflow that texts the owner. Set the handoff rules before the agent goes live.
Cost per call and per month
Assumptions for a typical IV therapy clinic: 200 calls a month answered by the AI, averaging 2.5 minutes. Phone minutes are billed per call and rounded up, so each call bills 3 phone minutes at $0.01165.
| Setup | AI cost | Phone line | Per month | Per call |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pay per use, Standard voice, GPT-4.1 Mini | $34.00 | $6.99 | $41 | $0.20 |
| Pay per use, ElevenLabs voice, GPT-4.1 Mini | $44.00 | $6.99 | $51 | $0.25 |
| Pay per use, speech-to-speech (OpenAI) | $100.00 | $6.99 | $107 | $0.53 |
| AI Employee Unlimited, $97 flat | $97.00 | $6.99 | $104 | $0.52 |

Compared with staff time
Those 200 calls take about 8 hours of talk time a month. At the US median receptionist wage of $18.27 an hour (May 2025, Bureau of Labor Statistics), that talk time alone is worth about $152, before hold time, breaks, benefits and the calls that come in after hours. An AI receptionist does not replace a good front desk; it catches the overflow and the evenings, and frees staff for the people in front of them.
Sample call
AI AGENTHi, thanks for calling Revive Mobile IV. I'm the AI assistant. Would you like to come into the lounge, or have a nurse come to you?
CALLERCome to us. There are four of us at a hotel downtown this afternoon.
AI AGENTWe can do that. Which hotel, and what time works for the group?
CALLERThe Marlow, around 3 p.m.
AI AGENTA nurse can arrive between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. Each guest completes a short health screening before the visit, and the nurse reviews it on arrival. Should I book four people?
CALLERYes, please.
AI AGENTDone. I'm texting the deposit link and a screening form link to share with your group. Would you like the full menu with prices too?
CALLERYes, send the menu.
Prompt tips
- Tip 1Give the agent drip names and prices only, without benefit descriptions, plus a rule that it never says what a drip does for the body.
- Tip 2Define the mobile service area by ZIP code or city in the knowledge base, so the agent declines out-of-area bookings politely.
- Tip 3Tell the agent that any question about pregnancy, medications or health conditions gets one answer: the nurse will review it with you.
Rules to watch
Booking is not clearance. Booking a drip is not approval to receive one. Have the AI say that a clinician reviews each client's health screening before treatment, and route every question about conditions or medications to the nurse. The medical director sets the rules the script follows.
No health claims in scripts. The FTC expects health-related advertising claims to be backed by competent and reliable scientific evidence. List drips in the AI's knowledge base by name, contents as the clinic describes them, and price, and leave out claimed benefits such as energy, immunity or recovery.
HIPAA status. IV clinics that bill insurance electronically are HIPAA covered entities; cash-only clinics may not be, but screening forms still hold health details. If those forms live in HighLevel, its $297 a month HIPAA package with a business associate agreement is the safer setup. Confirm with counsel.
