The short answer

GoHighLevel for barbershops works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single barbershop fits on Starter at $97 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $143 a month. An agency running ten barbershops on Unlimited pays about $76 per business.

A barbershop runs on short appointments and walk-ins, so the phone interrupts cuts all day with one-minute questions: are you open, how long is the wait, can I get in with Marco at four. Barbers cannot stop mid-fade to answer, and missed calls turn into empty chairs. Regulars come back every two to four weeks, so the real revenue is repeat visits, and a shop that reminds clients when they are due keeps chairs full on slow weekdays.

Why barbershops miss leads

These are the calls and messages a typical barbershop has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:

  • Is there a wait for walk-ins
  • Booking with a specific barber
  • Hours today or on Sunday
  • Prices for a cut, beard trim or shave
  • Kids' cuts
  • Moving a booked time

Five workflows to build first

  1. Missed call text back with booking linkMissed calls get a text with the shop's hours, walk-in policy and a link to book each barber, since many callers only want a time and do not need a conversation.
  2. Due-for-a-cut remindersTwo to three weeks after a visit, based on each client's usual gap, a text offers the next open slots with their barber and a one-tap booking link.
  3. Slow day fillOn a quiet Tuesday or Wednesday morning, a text goes to clients who are due soon, offering open afternoon times with a link, without cutting prices.
  4. Barber-signed messagesEach barber's clients get reminders and rebooking texts signed with that barber's name, so the messages feel personal even though a workflow sends them on schedule.
  5. First visit review requestNew clients get a text asking for a Google review the day after their first cut, sent to everyone rather than only the clients who seemed happy.

HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

What it costs

Our assumptions for a typical barbershop: 250 calls a month answered by Voice AI at 1.5 minutes each, 1,000 text segments and 500 emails. These are starting points, not measured data.

Line One barbershop on Starter Agency, 10 on Unlimited (per business)
Plan $97 $29.70
Number and A2P fees $2.65 $2.65
Texts with carrier fees $11.67 $11.67
Phone minutes for AI calls $5.83 $5.83
Email $0.34 $0.34
Voice AI (Pay per use) $25.50 $25.50
Total per month $143 $76

Adding an AI receptionist

Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.13 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for barbershops.

Rules to watch

Texting consent for reminders. Clients welcome reminder texts, but FCC rules still require consent for autodialed texts to cell phones and written consent for marketing messages. Add a texting consent line to your booking form, and treat a stop reply as an opt-out from every list.

No paid-for praise. Under the FTC rule on consumer reviews, effective October 21, 2024, a shop cannot write or buy fake reviews or reward clients for reviews that express a particular sentiment. A free cut for a five-star review is off the table; ask every client the same way and accept what they post.

General information, not legal advice. Check the rules for your state with a qualified professional.

Software barbershops often use

Booksy, Squire, theCut, Square Appointments, Fresha. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.

Which plan

One barbershop fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many barbershops should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.

Questions

How much does GoHighLevel cost for a barbershop?
About $143 a month on our assumptions: the Starter plan at $97, and usage for 250 AI-answered calls, 1,000 texts and 500 emails. Change the numbers in the calculator to match your barbershop.
Is GoHighLevel worth it for a barbershop?
It makes sense when missed calls and no-shows cost you chairs. Missed call text back, rebooking reminders, review requests and an AI receptionist are the core uses. A single shop fits Starter at $97 a month, plus usage for texts and calls. If you only need online booking, a barber booking app on its own may be enough.
Can each barber have their own calendar in GoHighLevel?
Yes. Each barber can have a calendar with their own hours and services, and a round robin calendar can spread bookings across whoever is free when a client has no preference. Clients can pick a barber on the booking page, and reminders can be signed with that barber's name.
How do barbershops get more Google reviews with GoHighLevel?
Send a review request text after each first visit and every few months to regulars, with a direct link to your Google profile. Reviews AI can suggest replies for $0.01 per reply sent on pay per use. Ask everyone the same way, since the FTC's rule bars rewards tied to positive reviews.
Can a barbershop sell memberships through GoHighLevel?
HighLevel's payments tools support recurring charges through a connected processor, so a monthly membership for a set number of cuts can be sold on a checkout page. Spell out the price, billing date and how to cancel before the client pays, and make canceling as easy as signing up.
