The short answer
GoHighLevel for churches works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single church fits on Starter at $97 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $173 a month. An agency running ten churches on Unlimited pays about $106 per business.
Church offices are often run by a small staff or volunteers who are not at the desk every day, yet the phone brings some of the most important calls a church receives: a family arranging a funeral, a newcomer asking about service times, a member requesting a hospital visit. A missed call from a first-time visitor can mean they never come. Member communication is its own weekly load, from announcements and small group sign-ups to volunteer schedules and giving statements.
Why churches miss leads
These are the calls and messages a typical church has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:
- Service times and location
- First visit questions like parking and childcare
- Funeral, wedding and baptism requests
- Prayer requests and pastoral care
- Small group and ministry sign-ups
- Giving statement requests
- Volunteer schedules
Five workflows to build first
- First-time visitor follow-upVisitors who fill out a connect card get a welcome text the same day, an email from the pastor that week and an invitation to a newcomers' lunch. A pipeline shows who returns, joins a group or starts serving.
- Small group and event sign-upsForms collect sign-ups for small groups, retreats and classes, confirm by email and remind attendees by text. Group leaders see their own roster through a smart list.
- Volunteer serving remindersVolunteers get a text before their serving week with the role and arrival time, plus a link to request a swap if they cannot make it.
- Pastoral care routingPrayer and hospital visit requests from forms or calls create a task for the care team, and urgent ones send an immediate text to the pastor on call.
- Weekly announcementsMembers who opted in get a Friday email with the weekend's services and events, and a short text only for major announcements, so the text line stays meaningful.
HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

Adding an AI receptionist
Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.24 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for churches.
Rules to watch
Texts need consent. FCC rules require consent before autodialed texts to a mobile phone, and commercial texts need written consent. Collect texting consent on the connect card or membership form, keep it on the contact, and honor any reply asking to stop. The FCC's nonprofit exemption covers calls to residential landlines, not texts.
Automated calls to members. The FCC confirmed in 2024 that AI-generated voices are artificial voices under the TCPA. Tax-exempt nonprofits may make up to three artificial or prerecorded voice calls to a residential line in any 30 days without consent; calls to cell phones need consent first.
Giving acknowledgments. The IRS requires a written acknowledgment for any single contribution of $250 or more, naming the church and the amount and stating whether goods or services were given, or that they were only intangible religious benefits. The AI should route receipt requests to the finance team.

Software churches often use
Planning Center, Tithe.ly, Pushpay, Breeze ChMS, Church Community Builder, Subsplash. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.
Which plan
One church fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many churches should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.
