The short answer
GoHighLevel for funeral homes works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single funeral home fits on Starter at $97 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $159 a month. An agency running ten funeral homes on Unlimited pays about $92 per business.
Funeral homes take the most sensitive calls of any small business. A family calls at 2 a.m. because someone has died at home, a hospice nurse calls to arrange a transfer, and a shopper calls to compare cremation prices, and each needs a different, correct response. Staff are often out on a removal or directing a service, and an unanswered first call can send a grieving family to another provider. Pre-need planning inquiries also need patient follow-up over months.
Why funeral homes miss leads
These are the calls and messages a typical funeral home has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:
- A death has occurred and the family needs help
- Hospice or hospital arranging a transfer
- Price of cremation or a traditional funeral
- Service times, directions and livestream links
- Planning a funeral in advance
- Flowers or obituary questions
Five workflows to build first
- First call alertAny call or form marked as a death call immediately texts and emails the on-call director with the caller's name, number, the location of the deceased and whether hospice is involved, so nothing depends on someone checking voicemail.
- Price list by emailWhen someone asks for prices through a form or text, a workflow emails your General Price List along with the casket and outer burial container price lists, and notifies a staff member so a person can follow up only if the family asks.
- Service details for family and friendsAfter arrangements are made, the family gets a text with a link to the service details page (time, place, livestream) that they can forward, and the obituary link once it is published.
- Aftercare check-insFamilies receive gentle, spaced messages after the service, at 30 days, six months and the first anniversary, with grief support resources. Any reply goes to the funeral director who served them.
- Pre-need planning follow-upPeople who request pre-planning information get the planning guide by email and a text a week later offering a meeting. Those who do not respond get one quiet quarterly email and never a high-pressure sequence.
HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

Adding an AI receptionist
Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.48 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for funeral homes.
Rules to watch
FTC Funeral Rule: prices by phone. The Funeral Rule requires funeral providers to give callers who ask about prices accurate information from the General Price List, Casket Price List and Outer Burial Container Price List, and to answer other price questions with readily available information. Callers cannot be required to give their name, address or number first, so the AI must answer price questions directly.
Tone and escalation. Grieving callers should never be pushed through a menu or a sales script. The AI should say it is an assistant, speak slowly, offer a person at any point, and transfer death calls at once. Have staff role-play difficult calls to test it before it answers a real one.

Which plan
One funeral home fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many funeral homes should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.
