The short answer

GoHighLevel for pool service companies works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single pool service company fits on Starter at $97 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $143 a month. An agency running ten pool service companies on Unlimited pays about $76 per business.

Pool service companies run on weekly routes, and most of their calls come from customers already on those routes: the water turned cloudy, the pump is grinding, the heater will not fire before a party. New business arrives in bursts at opening season and when a green pool needs rescuing before summer. Technicians spend the day at the water with test kits and chemicals, so calls stack up, and a route customer who cannot reach anyone about a green pool starts shopping for another service.

Why pool service companies miss leads

These are the calls and messages a typical pool service company has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:

  • Weekly or biweekly service quote
  • Green or cloudy pool cleanup
  • Pool opening or closing
  • Pump, filter or heater not working
  • Leak or water loss
  • Skipped visit or vacation hold
  • Chemical balance questions

Five workflows to build first

  1. Visit report textsAfter each weekly visit, the customer gets a short text: service done, chemical readings and any notes. It answers most 'did you come today?' questions before anyone calls.
  2. Opening and closing season bookingIn late winter and late summer, customers get a booking link for opening or closing with dates grouped by neighborhood, which keeps routes efficient.
  3. Equipment repair estimate follow-upWhen a technician flags a failing pump or heater, the estimate goes out by text with photos. Reminders follow at two days and at a week.
  4. Green pool rescue nurtureNew green-pool leads get the cleanup price range, what it includes and a booking link. After the cleanup, they get an offer to start weekly service.
  5. Review request after cleanup or repairWhen a green-to-clean job or a repair is finished, the customer gets a review link. No customer is skipped, including those who needed a second visit.

HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

Adding an AI receptionist

Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.20 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for pool service companies.

Rules to watch

Community pool drain rules. The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act requires public pools and spas, a definition that includes pools for apartment complexes, residential developments, hotels and clubs, to have drain covers meeting the federal standard. If you service those pools, have the AI treat calls about missing or broken drain covers as urgent and route them to a person.

Consent for route texts and promotions. Visit reports and reminders are service texts; opening specials and equipment promotions are marketing and need consent. Honor opt-outs made in any reasonable form, and don't use AI-voiced calls for promotions without prior express written consent, per the FCC's 2024 ruling.

General information, not legal advice. Check the rules for your state with a qualified professional.

Software pool service companies often use

Skimmer, Pool Brain, Pool Office Manager, Jobber, QuickBooks. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.

Which plan

One pool service company fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many pool service companies should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.

Questions

How much does GoHighLevel cost for a pool service company?
About $143 a month on our assumptions: the Starter plan at $97, and usage for 140 AI-answered calls, 1,200 texts and 800 emails. Change the numbers in the calculator to match your pool service company.
Can GoHighLevel replace Skimmer or Pool Brain?
Not for route work. Pool service software handles routes, chemical logs and technician apps. HighLevel adds lead capture, seasonal campaigns, texting, estimates and reviews. A pool company can keep its route software and use HighLevel for sales and customer messages.
How can a pool company fill opening season with GoHighLevel?
Send an opening booking link in late winter by text to customers who agreed to marketing, and by email to the rest. Group available dates by neighborhood so routes stay tight, and add a waitlist tag once the slots fill.
Can pool customers pay by text in GoHighLevel?
Yes. HighLevel invoices can go out by text with a payment link through Stripe, Square or other supported processors, and the payment history stays on the contact. For monthly route billing, test how your processor handles repeat charges before moving every customer over.
Can an agency reuse one pool service setup across clients?
Yes. Agencies can build one pool service setup (pipelines, workflows, calendars, website) and copy it into each client sub-account with a snapshot. Starter allows three sub-accounts; agencies with more pool clients need Unlimited at $297 a month.
