The short answer

GoHighLevel for restaurants works as one system for calls, texts, bookings, reviews and follow-up. A single restaurant fits on Starter at $97 a month. With our assumed volumes the all-in bill is about $245 a month. An agency running ten restaurants on Unlimited pays about $178 per business.

A restaurant phone rings hardest during service, exactly when every host and server is busy. Callers want a table for six at 7:30, holiday hours, whether the kitchen can handle a nut allergy, or a quote for catering an office lunch. When nobody answers, the reservation goes to the place down the street, and the catering inquiry, often the most valuable call of the week, never gets written down. Afterward, guests who loved the meal are rarely asked for a review or invited back.

Why restaurants miss leads

These are the calls and messages a typical restaurant has to catch. Each one is a job, a booking or a sale if someone answers quickly:

  • Reservations and party size
  • Hours, holiday hours and wait times
  • Takeout orders
  • Allergy and dietary questions
  • Catering and private dining inquiries
  • Gift cards
  • Lost items and bill questions

Five workflows to build first

  1. Catering inquiry pipelineCatering requests from calls and the website land in a pipeline with the date, headcount and budget. The manager gets an instant text, the guest gets the catering menu by email, and a proposal follows within a day.
  2. Missed call text back during serviceCalls that go unanswered in the Friday rush get a text with the reservation link, the online ordering link and today's hours, which covers most of what those callers wanted.
  3. Post-visit review requestGuests who booked through the reservation form get a thank-you text the next morning with a review link, sent to every guest alike. Reviews AI can suggest replies to new Google reviews for the manager to post.
  4. Birthday offersAn optional birthday field on the reservation form feeds a yearly campaign that texts a free dessert offer during the guest's birthday week, only to guests who opted in to marketing texts.
  5. Private dining rebookAfter a private event, the host gets a thank-you email with a short survey, and a reminder about eleven months later asks whether they want to book the room again for next year.

HighLevel's workflow builder runs all of these, and missed call text back is usually the quickest win.

What it costs

Our assumptions for a typical restaurant: 1200 calls a month answered by Voice AI at 2 minutes each, 1,500 text segments and 4,000 emails. These are starting points, not measured data.

Adding an AI receptionist

Voice AI can answer the calls above around the clock, book them into the calendar and pass the hard ones to a person. On our assumptions it costs about $0.10 per answered call, phone line included. What the AI should handle, what it should hand to staff and a sample call are in our guide to an AI receptionist for restaurants.

Rules to watch

No card numbers by voice. PCI Security Standards Council guidance says card security codes must not be stored after authorization, and codes held in searchable call recordings must not be kept. Voice AI keeps transcripts, so the AI should never ask for a card number. Use a text-to-pay link or take payment at pickup.

Allergy answers. The FDA lists nine major food allergens, with sesame added on January 1, 2023. Federal allergen labeling does not cover food wrapped to order in a restaurant, so guests rely on what staff tell them. The AI should read listed allergens only and pass cross-contact questions to a manager.

General information, not legal advice. Check the rules for your state with a qualified professional.

Software restaurants often use

Toast, OpenTable, Resy, Square for Restaurants, Clover, DoorDash. Check the HighLevel marketplace or ask HighLevel before assuming any of these connect directly.

Which plan

One restaurant fits on Starter at $97 a month, which includes 3 sub-accounts. Move to Unlimited at $297 if you run more than three locations or brands. Agencies serving many restaurants should compare Unlimited with Agency Pro and SaaS Mode, which lets you resell and mark up usage.

Questions

How much does GoHighLevel cost for a restaurant?
About $245 a month on our assumptions: the Starter plan at $97, and usage for 1200 AI-answered calls, 1,500 texts and 4,000 emails. Change the numbers in the calculator to match your restaurant.
Is GoHighLevel a replacement for a restaurant POS or OpenTable?
No. HighLevel is not built as a restaurant point of sale or a reservation network. Restaurants use it around those tools for catering sales, private dining leads, texting and email campaigns, review requests and gift cards. It suits owners who want guest contacts and marketing in one place instead of several apps.
Can HighLevel sell restaurant gift cards?
Yes. Gift cards are part of HighLevel's payments tools, so a restaurant can sell them online from its website or a store page. Promote them in December with an email and text campaign to guests who agreed to marketing, and add the gift card link to the missed call text as well.
How does HighLevel help with catering sales?
Catering is where a CRM tends to pay off for restaurants. Each inquiry becomes an opportunity with the date, headcount and value, proposals go out through Documents & Contracts with e-signature, and a signed proposal can send the client straight to an invoice. Past catering clients can be emailed before the holiday party season.
Which HighLevel plan does a restaurant need?
Starter at $97 a month for a single restaurant, and its three sub-accounts leave room for a second location or a food truck. A group with more than three concepts would need Unlimited at $297. Texts, calls, emails and AI usage are billed on top of either plan.
