The short answer

The GoHighLevel knowledge base is where a sub-account keeps the business facts its AI agents answer from. Content comes from six source types: a web crawler, FAQs, web search, tables, rich text and file uploads. Conversation AI bots, Voice AI agents, Agent Studio flow agents and Managed Agents can all draw on it, and Ask AI can create and attach knowledge bases for you. It is included on every plan at no extra cost, subject to fair use. A retrieval tester shows whether a question actually finds the right content, which is the quickest way to catch gaps before a customer does.

Six ways to add content

HighLevel supports six data source types. Most businesses need two or three: the website crawl for general information, FAQs for the questions callers ask most, and a table for anything with exact values. A knowledge base can mix sources, and HighLevel's summary view shows which ones are connected, so a missing price sheet or FAQ set is easy to spot.

  • Web Crawler: pulls content from a website
  • FAQ: question and answer pairs written by hand
  • Web Search: lets the knowledge base draw on search results
  • Tables: structured rows such as services and prices, downloadable as CSV
  • Rich Text: formatted notes written directly in HighLevel
  • File Upload: documents such as menus, policies or price sheets

The web crawler

The crawler has three scopes: an exact URL for one page, path-based for every page under a folder such as /services/, and domain-wide for the whole site. It can also pick URLs from the site's sitemap. HighLevel's enhanced crawler, documented in March 2026, reads modern single-page sites better and pulls structured details such as business hours, contact details, prices and services, and it avoids actions such as submitting forms or changing filters while it reads. Crawl only pages you want an AI to repeat to customers: old blog posts with outdated prices or expired offers will be quoted back just as confidently as the current price list.

Which agents use it

Every major AI agent in HighLevel reads from the same kind of knowledge base, so the content is written once and reused. Voice AI agents link to one knowledge base at a time, and HighLevel says updates show up in answers straight away and that there are no published size limits, though very large knowledge bases may perform worse. Conversation AI bots train on knowledge bases and can use knowledge base triggers. Managed Agents use them to ground answers in real pricing, policies and procedures, and flow agents in Agent Studio attach one through a Knowledge Base tool node. Knowledge bases can also be bundled into AI agent templates for reuse across clients.

Keeping answers right

Most wrong AI answers trace back to the knowledge base rather than the prompt. Use the retrieval tester after every major change: type the questions customers really ask and check that the right passage comes back. Put anything precise, such as prices, hours, service areas and cancellation fees, into tables or FAQs instead of leaving it buried in long pages. Because a Voice AI agent can only link one knowledge base, build one per agent that contains everything that agent needs, rather than splitting content across several. Review it whenever the client changes prices or hours.

Questions

Does the GoHighLevel knowledge base cost extra?
No. HighLevel's AI pricing article lists Knowledge Base as included at no additional cost on all plans, subject to fair use. The AI agents that read from it are billed separately, for example Conversation AI by tokens or responses and Voice AI by the minute, but storing and managing the content itself is free.
How many knowledge bases can a Voice AI agent use?
One at a time. HighLevel's Voice AI article says each agent can be linked to a single knowledge base, and it has to be one of HighLevel's built-in knowledge bases rather than a third-party source. Put everything that agent needs into that one knowledge base, and use separate agents if different lines need different content.
Is there a size limit on a GoHighLevel knowledge base?
HighLevel does not publish one. Its Voice AI knowledge base article says there are no published limits but that performance may vary with extremely large knowledge bases. In practice, a focused knowledge base with accurate FAQs and tables gives better answers than a crawl of every page on a large site.
Can I build a knowledge base from my website?
Yes. The web crawler can read a single page, every page under a path, or a whole domain, and can choose URLs from your sitemap. It extracts details such as hours, prices, contact details and services. Review what it pulled with the retrieval tester, and remove outdated pages before an agent starts quoting them.
