The short answer
The GoHighLevel wallet is a prepaid balance that pays for usage on top of your plan: calls and texts on the Phone System, email sending and validation, AI usage, address autocomplete and premium workflow steps. When the balance falls below a threshold you set, HighLevel charges the agency card on file a fixed recharge amount. Auto recharge cannot be switched off for the agency wallet. On Unlimited and Agency Pro, agencies can rebill that usage to each client's own wallet, at cost, or with a markup on Agency Pro.
| Plans | Every plan has the agency wallet. Rebilling to sub-account wallets at cost: Unlimited and Agency Pro. Rebilling with markup: Agency Pro only. |
|---|---|
| Cost | No fee for the wallet itself. It is funded by your card and drawn down by usage, for example $0.00747 per US SMS segment and $0.675 per 1,000 emails. |

What the wallet pays for
HighLevel bills plans monthly but meters usage. Instead of buying a fixed bundle, the agency is charged for what each sub-account actually uses, and those charges come out of the wallet. HighLevel's pricing guide names the Phone System, Email System, Email Validation, AI usage, Autocomplete Addresses and Workflow Premium Features as common wallet-funded services, and WhatsApp conversations draw from it too. The amounts are small individually and add up with volume, which is why a busy client can cost far more in usage than in plan fees.
- SMS: $0.00747 per segment, outbound or inbound, plus carrier fees
- Local phone number: $1.15 a month; toll-free: $2.15 a month
- Email: $0.675 per 1,000; email validation: $2.50 per 1,000
- Premium workflow steps: $0.01 each after 100 free per sub-account
Auto recharge and Smart Adjustment
Two settings control recharges: the threshold balance, and the recharge amount added each time the balance drops below it. With a $25 threshold and a $50 recharge, the card on file is charged $50 as soon as the balance slips under $25. HighLevel does not let you disable auto recharge on the agency wallet, so the card needs headroom for busy months.
Smart Adjustment watches how often recharges fire. If the same recharge amount triggers more than three times within seven days, HighLevel treats it as too low for your usage and raises it to the next recharge level. You can turn Smart Adjustment off if you prefer a fixed amount and more frequent, smaller charges on your card. Check the recharge history now and then to see whether the level still matches your usage.
Rebilling usage to clients
HighLevel always charges the agency wallet first. What happens next depends on your plan. On Starter, usage remains an agency cost unless you invoice clients yourself. On Unlimited and Agency Pro, rebilling gives each client a sub-account wallet backed by their own card, and your agency's Stripe account charges them the same amount HighLevel charged you. On Agency Pro you can add a markup and keep the difference. HighLevel's own Stripe never charges a sub-account's wallet or card directly; your agency Stripe does that when rebilling or reselling is turned on.
Keeping wallet costs predictable
Wallet surprises usually come from volume nobody planned for: a bulk SMS campaign, an AI agent answering every call, or a workflow looping through premium webhook steps. A few habits help. Review spending per sub-account each month, set a recharge amount that matches a normal week rather than a quiet one, and switch on rebilling as soon as a client starts sending real volume so their card pays for their usage. Watch carrier changes too: HighLevel raised the Verizon SMS carrier fee from $0.0045 to $0.0050 and the fee for other carriers from $0.0040 to $0.0042 on October 1, 2026.
