The short answer
Yes, with conditions. Texts from a US or Canadian number to other countries need Persona identity verification instead of A2P registration, and the destination country must be enabled in SMS geo permissions. Some countries only accept local numbers, alphanumeric sender IDs or short codes, and US numbers cannot text the UK at all. International rates run far higher, for example $0.0524 per segment to the UK.
What has to be in place before you send
Three things decide whether an international text leaves HighLevel. The first is identity: HighLevel's messaging guidelines say texts from US or Canadian numbers to international destinations need Persona verification rather than A2P registration, and messages are blocked with Error 1002 when it is missing. The second is permission: sending to another country requires SMS geo permissions for that destination, which are separate from calling permissions and can be requested from HighLevel support. The third is the sender type, which has to be one the destination country accepts.
Country rules that block messages
Sender rules vary by destination. HighLevel notes that some countries do not accept business texts from long codes and require a registered alphanumeric sender ID or a short code. Where a country allows alphanumeric IDs you can configure one in HighLevel, but recipients cannot reply to it, and alphanumeric IDs are not supported for standard SMS in the US or Canada. The UK blocks international long codes, so US-to-UK texts fail with Error 21612. Turkey has blocked international business texts containing any URL since April 1, 2026, including shortened and tracking links.
What international texts cost
US and Canadian texts cost $0.00747 per segment, but other destinations follow country rate sheets attached to HighLevel's phone pricing guide. That sheet lists, for example, $0.0515 per segment to Australia, $0.0524 to the UK, $0.0832 to India and $0.1819 to Mexico. HighLevel charges for every message it hands to a carrier, including ones undeliverable because of country restrictions, and it does not refund undelivered texts. Emojis switch a message to Unicode, cutting a segment from 160 characters to 70. Rates for some destinations, including Albania, Nepal and Nicaragua, change on October 13, 2026.
